I completely forgot to mention, but at the end of the last blog, Christina and Anthony came in for their monthly supervisor visit! Once again, this supe visit will look a bit different than a normal visit, but at least there is not a hurricane to worry about! We only have one retreat scheduled this weekend with them, which is at Holy Redeemer Church in Palm City, FL. The retreat was alright, the youth were a good group, but they weren’t very responsive to us, which was tough. Furthermore, that may have been our last retreat until after thanksgiving break! Which would be so sad if that is true, hopefully not. After retreat, Grace and I as Team Leaders went out to a seafood restaurant for dinner with Christina and Anthony, and talked about the team more in depth. Once we got back, we played games with Rob and Karen, our host family, who are a riot, especially when it comes to games. . . The supervisors take over now! We start off in our normal routine: Personal Prayer, Breakfast, Team Prayer, then we split in to Men’s/Women’s Session groups. The guys took over the pool and deck area, while the ladies stayed inside. After a few hours, we got into the van and led us to another team activity: The Blindfold activity! It was my favorite last year. The idea is our team got caught in a hiking accident, and now some of us have either broken an arm/leg, or have gone blind or mute. These handicaps are given and taken away by the supervisors, and you must walk around a park finding clues to safety in spite of our handicaps. And the team succeeded! Just like I expected, I was blind and mute the whole time, so Luke led me the entire time to victory! I had a great time, since all I had to do was take a step back and let my team lead me to where I need to be. And from the activity, the team saw immense growth from the Tentpole activity last month, which I’m so grateful they recognized. . . On the supervisors’ last day, we drove to west side of the Sunshine State to Naples, Florida, with a pitstop at Ave Maria University, one of the newest Catholic universities (est. 2003). A couple of Christina’s old teammates go to school there, along with a couple NET alum from last year. We spent the afternoon there, where the Alum gave us a couple talks on their experience and about their life, which was super impactful. Meanwhile, I was extremely fascinated by how beautiful the campus was. Aside from the anthill I accidentally sat on, I absolutely loved the campus, especially the warm weather, and for the first time I could imagine myself actually pursuing a university. That evening, we arrived at St. Elizabeth Seton in Naples, where there was an Adoration and Praise & Worship evening with Fr. Casey Jones, a NET alum who came to NET Training to serve this year. He is a very passionate man, and he was so happy we could show up for the week. We are in Naples for 5 days, yet with no ministry planned, so we’re not exactly sure what we’re going to do yet. There’s about a few thousand things we can do, but nothing is confirmed, so Grace and I must schedule one day at a time, which sounds really tough. We’ll see how this goes.
