Our last supervisor visit. The last time Anthony and Christina will take over for Grace and I. From what I recall from last year, the fourth and final supervisor visits are super chill, and we would spend it at Holy Cross in Lafayette. The whole morning was filled with prayer, with the supes praying over each one of us. It was a very intense morning for me, specifically, but it was all good. After lunch, we split into men’s and women’s groups for the whole afternoon, where we had ice cream and played football. We then came back together for dinner, heard Anthony and Christina sing Tangled, which was the most beautiful thing ever, and went back to host home. Anthony, Samuel and I stayed with Wayne for one more night, which was spent talking with him and his niece. I love this man so much, he’s definitely one of my favorite host homes yet. . . We got up early the next morning and gathered our things to drop the supes off at the Baton Rouge Airport. This would be the last time we would see them until May, which is tough for sure. We stuck around the “Red Stick” for a few hours afterwards, where we spent having lunch at the Talbot’s house again, doing ministry prep at a park nearby, and do something extremely daring: visit Gordon McKernan’s offices again. If you recall, we befriended workers at an injury law attorney office back in January, who has tons of billboards across Louisiana. We’ve been in his office multiple times, but he was never there. Today was our lucky day, though, as we met him and his daughter! It was like meeting a celebrity, we were lowkey starstruck. We immediately asked if he was Christian, since some of his billboards had bible verses on it. Turns out he is a devout Baptist, and really implements his faith in his everyday life! How amazing: a Christian lawyer. He then told us if we were in town again he would serve us lunch, so we will soon take him up on his offer. We left in pure excitement, as we traveled east to Covington, LA. We stayed the night at Camp Abbey, a really nice campsite where many schools and parishes go to put on retreats. It was a super chill evening that included team prayer in the camp’s chapel. . . Our next two retreats are at St. Peter’s School in Covington, where I may have had my two favorite small groups of all time. We put on retreats for the 7th and 6th graders on two separate days, respectively. The 7th graders were so on fire for their faith, and many of them had strong relationships with Christ, which was such a beautiful witness for me. The 6th graders were just fun. They were chanting my name all day, and they tried to jump-scare me as I was leaving through a door! THAT’S SO COOL! It made my day for sure. The main guy at St. Peter’s, Clint, is a NET alum, and spent alot of good time with us talking about his year, which was so special. There was a massive thunderstorm the first night, so we spent it inside watching The Chosen, which I recommend all of you reading to watch if you haven’t yet. The second night, Grace and I went out and got New Orleans beignets and hot chocolate at Cafe Du Monde, which were delicious. All in all, my time in Covington was a highlight of the year for sure. . . We spent the next day with no obligations! A free day that was spent at a youth house on St. Peter’s campus. I had no plans except for watching March Madness and resting. I took a 2-hour nap that left me groggy, and it was legendary. As someone that doesn’t nap too often, it was surreal. After a chill day, we drove to Luling, LA, as we drive closer and closer to New Orleans. Eventually we will be able to go to downtown NOLA, but not yet.
