This place is so beautiful. I wish I had a camera to take photos of all the things I have the chance to see. There are beautiful spots throughout camp on the lake to see the stars at night or the sunrise/sunset. A place I never found until my boy Mark J. (KS, 2nd year) showed me was a little peninsula where you can see the sunrise, and we got to share that moment with Bella H. (OH), and Grace B. (MD/PA). It was beautiful, Bella took photos as well. Hopefully I can get my hands on the photos someday but if not the picture is always in my memory bank. God really becomes apparent in nature, especially for me after an adventurous quarantine, and I’m so grateful for it. . . Now looking at it, I should have combined this post with my last one… whatever. This week is way more chill than last week in terms of information, as we begin to learn about how we can best do ministry this year and what retreats look like. I say it is easier because I already know how to run retreats, but it is good for everyone else. . . Wednesday, September 2nd was a biggest day for me. Actually, the most important day. We had separate Men’s and Women’s Liturgy, Men’s in the morning, while the Women’s at night. This is where we usually get the opportunity to honor the ladies in a beautiful way. As they close mass, we surprise them by singing the last song with them. Usually we would walk in, but due to COVID most groups sung right outside the great room with the windows open. From there, the ladies were escorted to the tent by a trail of candles, looking very nice in the dark, where we would greet and mingle with them. Finally, we had one final surprise: all the guys sung the closing song from the movie Sister Act, and it was so much fun! I still need to watch that movie, but if its like the song I am hyped. . . Another reason why Wednesday was huge for me was some news I received. After breakfast, my small group leader, Anthony, informed me I would be a Team Leader!! This means I would have the responsibility of leading all activities and retreats for a team for the whole year, while also being a pastoral care for your team. There is a lot that goes to becoming a Team Leader, as it is the biggest role on a NET team, and I am greatly honored to be one this year. I will also have a female co-leader this year who I will get very close to this year because there is so much that goes into these roles. Last year, my Team Leaders were Nels M. and Sarah B., who were so awesome, and I want to live up their standards. But I am so excited!! I cannot WAIT to lead my team into victory this year in such a crazy time. Let’s do this!!
