Including yesterday, we are in the middle of a 3-day break from retreats, the longest one since we’ve been on the road. Today was gonna be a packed day though: we would drop off the supervisors, then head to Ellie’s dad’s house for a night! So after team prayer and a few final notes given to us about team life. Once finished, we dropped them off at the Ronald Reagan Airport, and headed for Leesburg, VA for the Lehto household, right on the Virginia-Maryland border. When we arrived, we dropped off our stuff and continued our Men’s/Women’s Session from last night. We made the most of it: fixed the backlight on the van, and played grounders at an extremely small, hidden park perfect for 5 guys. When we got home dinner was served: Tacos!! On Tuesday!! AND MONICA AND I WERE WEARING OUT TACO SHIRTS!! It was a glorious meal, and certainly hit the spot despite being hard taco shells. From there, we just hung out, played games with Ellie’s family, and had a good time. Okay, maybe it wasn’t as jam packed as I expected it to be, but it certainly felt like it. . . Today was another lazy day, as our only obligation until 4:00pm was Team Prayer. After that, it was whatever we wanted! The girls still needed to finish Women’s Session, so the guys played Poker (a big yikes for me), and eventually we had our first team movie: Paul Blart Mall Cop. An interesting first choice, but it brought us all together so it worked. Those were the main two things we did before we left for our next location: Middletown, MD, about 15 minutes from Leesburg. The guys stayed with Karen and Verona, a mother-daughter couple who has European background: Verona was born in Ireland, and had Karen in Great Britain, where she lived for 9 years. So both had different accents, which initially threw me off, but honestly made everything alot more fun. We played card games until we were too tired to play anymore. Tomorrow would be our first retreat in what feels like forever, so hopefully this break didn’t mess up our groove at all.
