It was an extremely early morning for us. We needed to be packing the trailer by 5:15am and be leaving ASAP in order to get to the next place. This turned out really well, as we all got our stuff loaded fairly quickly, and we were out of the Ellis’ home by 5:45! I got to navigate while Sarah was driving and everyone else got a couple more hours to sleep. During that time I got to talk to Sarah and do a rosary with her as part of our Personal Prayer. It was extremely fun conversation as our route took us through a few more states: Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia to be exact. If you have been counting, that means Ive been to 13 states since I left training (incl. Minnesota), which is absolutely nuts to me. We arrived at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Winchester, Virginia with 30 minutes to spare, in other words, 30 minutes before the retreat began. This would be our biggest task yet: a Confirmation retreat with 140 students, most of whom were not talking not enthused in being there. Trying to get these youth to break was difficult, but the skits helped no doubt. We had mass during retreat, and something that I found amazing was at the end of mass, they exposed the Eucharist in the monstrance!! I had never seen that before and I was fascinated, despite being extremely hot and sweaty due to the fact the AC broke in this huge sanctuary. The retreat overall felt absolutely chaotic, but it still turned out alright in my opinion. Fortunately we did not have to go far for host homes, as we would be staying in the empty convent across the street for the night! It was just our team, and it was absolutely wonderful getting to be with just them. Plus having time to make a couple calls home is always great. Unfortunately I crashed hard that night, as I started falling asleep at around 11 on the couch, so I zonked out before everyone else. Tomorrow was a more chill day, as the retreat was in the evening and only a couple hours away. Time to sleep in!
