As i mentioned in the last blog, we were ready to begin our roadtrip! Where was this road trip to you might ask? A little town called Cranston, Rhode Island! Hence the name “Rhode Trip”. We will travel for 4 days from New Munich, MN to Cranston, with stops in Chicago, Erie, PA, and Rochester, NY. Each day had so much in store, and I am ready to hit the road! He all saddled up at Immaculate Conception again after a night in host homes, and we set off for the 8 hour trek to Chicago. Much time was spent bonding, especially since we had no phones the entire way. We drove through all of Wisconsin to get to Illinois, and we had one major stop in Wisconsin at an antique shop, where I got some sick America socks for $7! We arrived at the host home around 6ish in Tinley Park, IL, a Chicago suburb 40 minutes south. We stayed with the Overland family, whose daughter went on NET last year, and they were able to host the whole team! It was the first time we were together as a team for the night, and we made the most of it. We played the Catholic Card Game, which is essentially Catholic Apples to Apples, and it was so much fun playing with everyone, despite Moriah dominating. Whoever didnt play got to jam out downstairs, but it was such a good night. . . Day 2 was another busy day, as we left early to try and get to Erie, PA, another 8-hour day. We drove through Indiana and Ohio, including Cleveland, to get there. For this night, we stayed at Sarah Beaver’s house!! There parents hosted us, and we got to meet her family and dog Bailey, which was so so sweet. We had team prayer outside, then moved into our rooms. The guys stayed in their basement, which was filled with Pittsburgh Steeler Memorabilia!! As a Steeler fan, I was LIVING in this home, Ive never seen so much Steeler stuff in one room in my life! I was a happy boy. Dinner was fantastic, and afterward we got ice cream for dessert from a place called Creamland. Finally, we ended the night with a bonfire and jam session, with a priest/friend of Sarah’s who gave confessions that night. A very special night for sure.
Go Steelers!! God’s team!
