Day 36- Has(tings) My Heart

It was our last night with the Zeyen Host Home. We did not get home until 7pm, but Angela wanted to take us out for our last night to the Vermillion River and mill nearby, a Hastings staple. We arrived just as the sun set, and it was perfect timing for photos. We later crossed a bridge and continued walking down a trail led by Vincent, and despite not eating for 8 hours, we were curious as what we would find. Indeed we found something: an old ruin! It was also a part of Angela’s childhood, but she said it was years since the last time she visited, and a few things have changed. Meanwhile, it was Vincent’s first time at the ruin, so we all walked down to the bottom where we found the Vermillion River once again, along with a cave that reminds me of the cave from Dead Poet’s Society. It got so dark we needed our phone flashlights to get back up from the ruins and back to the car, but I got some sweet photos that night, and spending time with my first host home was unforgettable. I fell in love with little Hastings, Minnesota even more, and I am forever grateful for having the opportunity to explore. Shoutout to the Zeyen Family for being absolutely amazing!
